Please tune in to the “Out to Lunch Show” on Wythenshawe FM at 12:30 on 1st August to hear from carers at Lifted speak about the caring role and how Lifted can support parent-carers of people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
Denture Adhesive Guidelines for Carers
We are reaching to you because of the lack of advice that exists for carers about dentures and denture adhesives.
The Oral Health Foundation has released a new set of guidelines for dentures adhesives and we think these would be useful to carers and the cared for.
We found that using a denture adhesive can provide benefits for full denture wearers both in terms of function, confidence and comfort. However, the current absence of advice on the use of denture adhesives mean that both carers and denture wearers are left confused.
Poor denture care can lead to a number of oral and wider health issues so it’s really important that all carers have the confidence and knowledge in this area.
The full guidelines can be downloaded here: White paper on guidelines for the use of denture adhesives and their benefits for oral and general health.
These guidelines also partner another set of global recommendations, launched in August 2018, about effective denture cleaning. These are now available from here: Denture Cleaning Guidelines.
Both set of guidelines also come with a simple infographic displaying the easy steps for better denture care.
