After a successful pilot of the group, Together Dementia Support (TDS) have secured Big Lottery funding to run it for the next year. The group welcomes people living with a dementia, whether or not they are accompanied by a relative. They can visit an isolated person with dementia to build a relationship and persuade them to try the group. TDS also provide transport to and from the group in their new minibus.
At the group they offer seated exercise each week and then a choice of activities. There are always physical games, arts & crafts, quizzes, table games, and seasonal activities. This year the group has had three trips out – more are planned. Regular members really look forward to the group sessions but TDS would love to have more referrals of people with dementia.
