We would like to wish all our network members, carers and all other organisations a happy and healthy new year. Manchester Carers Network has lots of exciting plans for 2019, we’ve taken a look ahead at some of the things we’ve got lined up…
Learning and development programme
The L&D programme developed hugely in 2018 with hundreds of carers in Manchester taking part in our range of workshops. The programme will continue to grow in 2019 with the development of new courses such as ‘welfare rights’ and ‘being a carer in Manchester’ and we are also exploring the development of a digital awareness course.
This year we want to continue to reach even more carers across the city to support and enhance their skills. We will be working with more local community centres, primary and secondary care and social work teams over the 12 neighbourhoods of Manchester.
Carers Week 2019 and Carers Fest
The network will again be celebrating Carers Week with a range of activities and events across the member organisations. This year we are also very excited to be involved in organising the first ever Carers Fest in Greater Manchester! Carers Fest will take place on Saturday 15 June and will bring together carers services from across Greater Manchester to celebrate. There will be information stalls, food and live music. More details will be released soon. If you would like more information or to be involved, please contact Sam Palmer – email@example.com
Carers Rights Day 2019
Towards the end of the year we will be celebrating Carers Rights Day. After the success of Carers Rights Day 2018 we will be planning another great event to raise awareness about the rights of carers.
New GM Young Carers Music Project
Gaddum in partnership with MMU have been successful in applying for funding from the Building Connections Fund Youth Strand Grant to pilot a Greater Manchester Young Carers music project – more information to following in the coming months.
As well as all of the above the Network will continue with what we do every day, providing support, information and advice to carers. We look forward to continued working and development with all our partners and affiliates.
